Oktoberfest 2025 Cancelled

A Message to Our Community

It is with sincere regret that we announce the cancellation of this year’s EdUCate! Oktoberfest, originally scheduled for October 4, 2025. This beloved community event has become a cherished tradition — a time when families, neighbors, and friends gather in celebration and support of our local public schools.

This decision was not made lightly. After extensive discussions and consideration, several challenges made it clear that moving forward with Oktoberfest this year would not be feasible. These include significantly increased fees and event-related expenses, a shortage of volunteers to plan and execute the festival, and street construction in front of Standley Park, limiting access and safety for attendees.

We understand how disappointing this news is for many of you. Oktoberfest is more than just a fundraiser — it’s a joyful gathering that brings our community together. We share in your disappointment and want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported the event over the years, whether by attending, volunteering, or sponsoring.

Though we can’t gather in person this year, the need for support remains. EdUCate! continues its mission to fund educational programs and resources for students in University City’s five public schools. If you were planning to attend or sponsor Oktoberfest, we invite you to consider making a donation instead. Every dollar makes a difference and directly supports students, teachers, and classrooms in our neighborhood.  We are also looking for energetic, community-minded volunteers to become an EdUCate! Board Member and/or support EdUCate! events.  If you are interested, please contact us at information@uc-educate.org.

We are looking ahead to future events and exploring new ways to bring our community together in support of our schools. We have already rescheduled this year’s Principals Challenge to be held during halftime at UC Community Night on Friday, September 5th on the UCHS centerfield.  Our Varsity Football team will be playing Bonita Vista. In the meantime, thank you for being part of the EdUCate! family and for continuing to stand with us — and our students and teachers.

EdUCate! is excited to host our 16th Annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Standley Park on Governor Drive. There are games, food, beverages, music, booths and a beer & wine garden. Each year Oktoberfest attracts thousands of San Diego parents, educators, and community members to this fun-filled afternoon that raises money to improve the quality of education in University City public schools.
